What is special about Liberty Village?

Liberty Village is one of the most sought after communities in Toronto with people who appreciate it for its cozy & convenient feel that its residents are proud of. In November 2011, a group of citizens formed the Liberty Village Residents' Association (LVRA) as a collective response to ongoing infrastructure issues and with a stated goal of creating social cohesion amongst the more than 25 000 people who call the Liberty Village area home. It is a legal not-for-profit run by volunteers and claims to be the "Largest residents' association in North America".

This community is know for its remarkable integration of work and play with a great mix of condo apartments and Townhouses, office, retail, restaurants and the necessities it's residents may wish for. It is also a walk from Shopping on Queen St and a walk from the Exhibition and the Lake with Go Transit and TTC at your doorstep.

Stroll back to the History of Liberty Village

As most communities in Toronto have their stories, Liberty Village too, has a remarkable story.

In the 1850s, train tracks were laid across the community, cutting it off from rest of the city and altering plans to develop the area for residential purposes. Instead, Liberty Village became home to several institutions, including the Toronto Central Prison and numerous Industrial Facilities.

The area's proximity to the railway tracks led to the growth of the industrial operations. John Inglis and Company opened a factory to manufacture heavy machinery, boilers, and later, electrical appliances in 1884, Massey-Harris (later built a factory to produce agricultural implements. Other companies that established in the late 19th century included Toronto Carpet Manufacturing, St. David’s Wine, and Ontario Wind Engine and Pump.

The Liberty Village of Today!

The ongoing gentrification of downtown Toronto was encouraging rapid development eventually decomissioning and removing a lot of the industrial and replacing it with parkland and residential communities. It has become a trendy neighbourhood for young professionals and artists pushing farther west for less established areas, while still remaining a short walk from the streetcar and also the Exhibition Go. Many old factories have been repurposed as lofts while others have become restaurants, gyms, furniture stores and galleries, as this area was primarily a former heavy industrial area.

You are in for a treat... wait till you see the bedrooms located in the private quarters of this flashy condo apartment.
